Events for our September Celebration and beyond

Having originally set out to take photographs of 100 Strangers, Phil Howcroft now finds himself on Portrait 485. He'll be telling us all about the people he's met and the joy he finds in combining portraiture and street photography.

Fancy trying your hand at a game that is simple to learn and fun to master? The new Petanque area in Welland Park is attracting a lot of interest and the HWu3a ‘Petanque Group’ would like to invite you along for a free taster session. Group members around all afternoon to help get you up and playing. It’s a very friendly, sociable game for people of all ages and abilities. We are running four 30 minute sessions and can take up to 8 people each session. All equipment provided, wear sensible shoes

Whether you’re a keen walker, rambler or stroller why not try one of the local walks on offer? All walks will start from and return to Welland Park café. Different distances will be on offer, setting off at staggered times.

Walk 1 (6-7 miles) will start at 10am. Pre-booking is required.
Walk 2 (4-5 miles) will start at 11am.
Walk 3 (3+ miles) will start at 2pm. Dave Martin will lead an urban walk, no stiles. No need to pre-book.
Suitable clothing and footwear needed for all walks.

Caroline will be painting live here at Wingates Gallery from 10am on Saturday 27th September 2025. She will be working on several paintings at different stages and customers will be able to watch them develop, hear about her inspiration and learn about her techniques. There’s no need to book, just come along and watch Caroline at work.

Saturday September 27th will be a day to ‘paws’ and look up as the popular Teddy Zip Line returns to Market Harborough … with children’s favourite teddies making thrilling descents from the town’s iconic church tower. This annual family fun time brings smiles to faces young and old.

Tom ‘JJ’ Julian-Jones joins us with Max Revell on drums. Tom JJ is well known as guitarist in the Cinelli Brothers, a dynamic 4-piece band from London who won the 2024 UK Blues Federation's "UK Blues Band of the Year".

Samantha Greenhill is one of the UK's leading wildlife artists and will be bringing her new solo exhibition of pastel originals to Wingates Gallery - her exclusive gallery - for customers to view whilst chatting to the artist herself.

Our second overseas act - Erin Harpe with her husband, bassist Jim Countryman - who are visiting Harborough Blues on their UK tour. Erin, two-time “Blues Artist of the Year”, has earned a reputation as a captivating performer, playing stages large and small throughout the US, UK and Europe, and opening for everyone from ZZTop to Honeyboy Edwards, Buddy Guy and James Cotton. Erin and Jim won the prestigious “Album of the Year” from the New England Music Awards with their latest album.

Market Harborough Story Centre joins us once again with an afternoon of words, music and films by local artists. This time, they'll be presenting spooky original stories, poems, songs, award winning films and a short play. Come along if you dare!

George Chamberlain convinced the audience last year that Sherlock Holmes is "...the master detective, the greatest of all time". We’re very pleased that he’s able to join us again, this time to look at Gothic fiction, discussing some of the best examples of the genre as well as some of its most sinister and iconic villains.

A Journey through Musical Genres. Professional musicians Charlie James Finnie (guitar) and Sharon Chloe (violin) have been performing together since 2008, in diverse settings, from classical concerts to rock festivals throughout the UK. Classically trained, they share a love of all genres of music, and for this presentation they will take you on a musical tour of some of their favourite pieces, exploring repertoire by Bach to Led Zeppelin, performing using electro-accoustic instruments.

At Harborough Culture Café we host talks about art, film, music, literature and performance. Our final speaker of the year will be telling us which of these we can use most easily to improve our wellbeing, and why it works - with scientifically proven benefits. Telling you who it is might give the game away though...

Perfectly groomed, he walks onto the stage every inch the "city slicker”. When Sunjay starts to sing and play the guitar however, you are transported to a world where blues and country music meld seamlessly amidst humid mangrove swamps and red neck barbecues. Sunjay will play two houses on 3rd December, this is the first.
