Rosewood Theatre Company - Where Young Talent Takes Centre Stage

In just a few short years, RoseWood Theatre Company has become one of the most exciting additions to Market Harborough's performing arts scene, creating opportunities for young people to sing, dance, act and grow in confidence both on and off the stage.
Founded by lifelong friends Annie and Alice, RoseWood was born from a shared passion for theatre and a desire to give young people in and around Market Harborough more opportunities to perform. Both founders met through the former Spotlight Theatre Company and had already gained extensive experience producing amateur theatre before deciding to create something of their own.
That friendship and creative partnership remain at the heart of everything they do.
"We saw how well we work together as a team and how we can bounce ideas off each other," they explain, recalling their time working together on a production of The Addams Family. It was a moment that helped shape the vision for what RoseWood would become.
Today, the company stages two full-scale productions each year, typically a winter pantomime and a summer musical. Alongside rehearsals packed with singing, dancing and acting, members enjoy drama games, creative activities and specialist classes designed to develop their performance skills. Behind the scenes, an equally dedicated team of volunteers, technicians and creatives help bring every production to life.
"It's easy to focus on the performers on stage," Annie and Alice say, "but every production depends on an incredible crew whose creativity and craftsmanship make it all possible."
Since launching in 2023, RoseWood has quickly built a reputation for producing high-quality, energetic productions while maintaining a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. That reputation was recognised when its production of Sister Act was nominated for a NODA Best Youth Production Award. The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) also praised the production as "polished", "entertaining", "enthusiastic" and "feel-good", an impressive endorsement for a relatively young company.
What makes RoseWood particularly special is its commitment to developing confidence, creativity and friendships alongside performance skills. Young performers are encouraged to challenge themselves, support one another and experience the thrill of live theatre in a nurturing environment.
The company emerged at a time when Market Harborough was feeling the loss of youth theatre opportunities following the closure of Spotlight Theatre Company. Annie and Alice recognised that gap and stepped forward to help fill it, providing a new home for aspiring performers and theatre lovers.
The support they have received from the wider creative community has been overwhelming. "So many different groups and individuals have offered us support and guidance through this journey," they say, reflecting on the generosity and encouragement they have found within Harborough's arts scene.
Looking ahead, their ambitions remain firmly focused on inclusion and opportunity. They hope to continue growing RoseWood and showcase the remarkable talent across the region while creating even more opportunities for people to get involved, whether on stage or behind the scenes.
Their next production, High School Musical, takes place on 25th and 26th July, and promises to be another energetic celebration of local talent. With catchy songs, lively choreography and a cast bursting with enthusiasm, it is shaping up to be a fantastic family show. If previous productions are anything to go by, audiences can expect polished performances, plenty of energy and the unmistakable sense of community that has become RoseWood Theatre Company's hallmark.
For Annie and Alice, however, success isn't measured purely by applause. It's about creating a place where young people can belong, build confidence, forge lasting friendships and discover what they're capable of achieving when creativity takes centre stage.
